Chair Care Patio offers three different types of rivets that can be used for single wrap or double wrap strap applications. In order to determine which rivet you will need careful inspection of the chair frame is required. If the rivet hole is flush (no indention) and located on the inside of the chair frame, the short shank (30-516) rivet will be used. If the rivet hole is pressed or bears a slight indention where it was pressed into the chair frame and is located on the inside of the frame, a long shank rivet (30-515) will be used. The long shank rivet has a slightly longer neck which allows the rivet to seat firmly into the pressed (indented) rivet hole. Holes located on the bottom side of the chair frame will use a double wrap solid shank rivet (30-512).
All rivets fit a 7/32” hole.

Rivets for vinyl strap come in three types

Single Wrap With Flush Hole
Single Wrap With Flush Hole

Hole will be located on the INSIDE of the chair frame.
If the rivet hole is flush on the frame and bears no indention, then the 30-516 short shank rivets will be used to attach the strap.

Single Wrap With Pressed Hole

Single Wrap With Pressed Hole

Hole will be located on the INSIDE of the chair frame.
If rivet hole is pressed into the frame and has a slight indention, a slightly longer rivet will be needed for added depth. The 30-515 long shank rivets will be used in this situation.

Double Wrap

Double Wrap

Hole will be located on the bottom side of the chair frame.
If the hole is located on the bottom side of the chair frame, the 30-512 double wrap solid shank rivets will be used in this situation. Since a double wrap strap wraps on top of itself, a barbed shank is not required on the rivet.

Other Frequently Asked Questions
aluminum rivet

What if I have aluminum rivets?
Aluminum rivets are almost always used for a double wrap application. In the event that you have aluminum rivets, you may either re-use them or use the standard double wrap rivet offered by Chair Care Patio.

What if my chair is slotted and doesn't use a rivet?
Depending on the orientation of the slots on the chair, either a single wrap or a double wrap application will be used and you will have to choose your rivet accordingly. To better help you with this question, please read the Slotted Conversion instructions found on ChairCarePatio.com before placing your order.

Slotted hole

What if the holes in my chair are larger than 1/4"?
In the rare event that the holes in your chair are too large for the rivets offered by Chair Care Patio, we recommend drilling 7/32" holes alongside the existing holes in your chair frame.
