Begin by turning your patio chair |

Begin by turning your patio chair upside down with the base pointing upward. You should find that there are two clips holding the swivel post pushing to the actual chair frame. |
Use a flat bladed screwdriver |

Use a flat bladed screwdriver to pry open the tabs which hold the plastic bushing to the patio chair base. In most situations you can use a hammer and screwdriver to break the plastic tabs off of the bushing. |
| |
With the plastic tabs broken |

With the plastic tabs broken, you should be able to wiggle the swivel base off the of the patio chair frame exposing the aluminum swivel post. |
The existing swivel post bushing |

The existing swivel post bushing should still be lodged inside of the patio swivel chair base and needs to be removed. Use a hammer and metal drift to knock the existing bushing out of the patio swivel chair base.

With the original bushing removed, you can now install the new swivel post bushing into the patio chair base. |
Use a rubber mallet |

Use a rubber mallet to GENTLY tap the replacement bushing into the patio chair swivel base until the bushing is flush with the lip of the swivel chair base.
Note: In cooler environments it is recommended to heat the new bushing before installing. The easiest way to heat the bushing is to place it in boiling water for a couple of minutes before installing. This will help prevent breakage while hammering. |
With the new bushing installed |

With the new bushing installed, drop the aluminum swivel post into the replacement bushing in the patio swivel base until you hear a snap. The snapping sound indicates that the bushing and chair base have locked together and should no longer come apart. |
