A cartridge cushion is a one piece style patio chair or chaise lounge cushion that uses a seam to create a separate back and the bottom. The seam allows the cushion to hinge or bend to fit properly on your outdoor patio chair. These are very common on outdoor furniture that uses vinyl strapping to hold up the cushion form underneath. Cartridge cushions are universal in nature and can be used on a variety of outdoor patio furniture styles. We are using a chaise lounge patio cushion as an example in the following pictures.
BEFORE YOU MEASURE make sure you know which section of your patio cushion is the back and which is the bottom or seat section. We can make a custom outdoor cushion for your outdoor furniture with a few simple measurements. You will need to have the following measure in hand before you place you order
- Width of patio cushion
- Overall Length of Patio cushion
- Depth of patio cushion seat from front to hinge
- Height of patio cushion back from top to hinge.
- Thickness of patio cushion

Lay your patio chair or chaise lounge cushions out flat on the floor or flat surface. Using a measuring tape or sewing style tape measure, measure the overall length of your outdoor cushion from end to end.

The hinge of a cushion is the seam that creates a separate back and bottom to the cushion and allows it to bend and conform to the shape of your patio chair or chaise lounge.

Measure the depth of the seat section of your cartridge cushion. Start at the front of the patio cushion and measure to the hinge area.

If you are having a party or event, please plan ahead. We do not accept rush orders.
You will not need to measure the thickness of your replacement cushion for wrought iron furniture. This has been predetermined by Chair Care Patio. Our cartridge cushions are approximately 4 inches thick and work nicely in this kind of furniture.
