How To Install Homecrest Style Slings (PDF).

Homecrest Style Sling Chaise Installation – Video Script

  1. This video will teach you how to install a standard Homecrest chaise lounge replacement sling.
  2. All Homecrest replacement sling installations vary by model number so use this video as a general guideline for installation.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the two pivot screws holding the sling frame to the outer frame.
  4. Next, loosen and completely remove the adjustment knobs and hardware from the underside of the chaise frame.
  5. Take note of how the adjustment knobs and respective parts are installed before completely disassembling them as they will need to be reinstalled again later.
  6. You should now be able to remove the entire sling frame away from the outer frame. Place the outer frame to the side for now.
  7. Turn the sling frame upside down on your workspace.
  8. Loosen and completely remove all of the nuts along the sling frame using a wrench or rachet.
  9. First remove the two larger rails as well as the adjustment brackets from the sling frame. These should come off fairly easily.
  10. Use the supplied hook tool to remove the remaining spreader bars from the sling. frame.
  11. Place the hook tool through the larger hole on the end of the spreader bar and onto the threaded stud on the sling frame.
  12. Lightly twist the tool to remove the spreader bars being careful not to bend the threaded studs.
  13. Do the same for the pivot bar located on the chaise back.
  14. Next, remove the slings rails from inside the chaise sling.
  15. It may help to slice the sling down the middle so that the rails are easier to remove.
  16. Lay your new replacement sling face down on your workspace and insert the sling rails into the new sling.
  17. Be sure that the threaded studs along the sling rails are exposed through their respective slots along the fabric.
  18. Next, re-install the spreader bars onto the sling rails at the following points.
  19. Note that second set of threaded studs up from the bottom of the sling rails does not take a spreader bar.
  20. Install the top and bottom spreader bars first before moving on to the others.
  21. Pay close attention to the holes in the spreader bars as one hole is larger than the other.
  22. Place the end with the smaller hole onto the threaded stud on the sling rail and finger tighten with a nut and washer.
  23. The opposite end of the spreader bar has a larger hole and will be installed using the supplied hook tool.
  24. With the handle facing outward, insert the tool through the larger hole in the spreader bar and onto the threaded stud on the sling rail.
  25. Make certain that the contoured curve of the hook tool is directed outward.
  26. Use one hand to apply inward pressure to the hook tool while the other presses down on the spreader bar.
  27. Oftentimes a rubber mallet is necessary to lower the bar into position.
  28. Lightly twist the hook tool to remove it.
  29. Place a washer and nut on the spreader bar and fasten securely.
  30. Next, install the bottom spreader bar and then move on to the pivot bar and fasten both securely.
  31. Install the remaining two spreader bars onto the chaise bottom but DO NOT install the nut and washer at these locations yet.
  32. Your frame should now look like this.
  33. Re-Install the adjust brackets at the second and third set of threaded studs up from the bottom of the sling frame and fasten ONLY THE BOTTOM set of threads.
  34. Now, install the two long bars at the third and fourth thread sets up from the bottom and fasten both ends securely.
  35. Double check that all of the nuts along the sling frame are fastened tightly before moving on.
  36. You are now ready to connect the sling frame to the outer frame of the chaise lounge.
  37. Reinstall the two pivot screws that were removed earlier with a screwdriver.
  38. Finally, reattach the adjustment knobs and hardware in the same fashion in which they were removed.
